Go to qgis.org → Download Now → Choose:

Your First Map in 5 Minutes

Let’s build a simple city parks + population density map.

Step 1: Add Base Data

• Browser Panel → Right-click XYZ Tiles → New Connection
• Name: OpenStreetMap URL: https://tile.openstreetmap.org/{z}/{x}/{y}.png
• Double-click to add → OSM basemap appears

Step 2: Add Vector Layer (Parks)

• Layer → Add Layer → Add Vector Layer
• Source: Download sample parks.geojson (or use your own)
• Click Add → Parks appear as green polygons

Step 3: Add Raster Layer (Population)

• Layer → Add Layer → Add Raster Layer
• Download sample population.tif
• Add → Grayscale grid appears

Step 4: Style It

• Right-click parks → Properties → Symbology

Color: Forest Green, Outline: Dark Green

• Right-click population → Properties → Symbology

Render Type: Singleband pseudocolor

• Color ramp: Magma

Step 5: Label & Layout

• parks → Properties → Labels → Label with name
• Project → New Print Layout → Drag map, add title, legend, scale bar
• Export as PDF/PNG
